A Technology Readiness Level is a measuring tool originally used by NASA, and now used by many governmental agencies and major companies, to assess how ready a technology is to be integrated and applied commercially.

By combining Technology Readiness Levels and Manufacturing Readiness Levels, areas of uncertainty and risk related to an innovation project can be identified. SRCs carry out research, development and technology transfers for companies based on a time-to-market rationale.
